When it comes to SEO, many beginners find it troublesome and don't know what exactly they should do. In this article, Naiba shares the most basic Google SEO optimization content based on his own experience. Welcome to discuss and exchange ideas together.
Keyword Research
Keyword research, any article about SEO will mention this term. For example, the keyword Naibabiji wants to target is
How to build a website yourself, the main keyword of the website has been changed several times, and currently it is positioned as
Foreign trade SOHO self-built website, when writing this article, it ranked third.

You can see in the Google search results, the first place is Zhihu, the second is FOB Foreign Trade Forum. If this site wants to rank first, the difficulty is still very high. And if you search for 'foreign trade self-built website', you will find that Naibabiji is not listed. Therefore, 'foreign trade SOHO self-built website' is a long-tail keyword compared to 'foreign trade self-built website'. However, whether this keyword selection is correct needs to be verified over time, because currently, the search volume for the term 'foreign trade SOHO self-built website' may not be high. For foreign trade companies, your website's keywords are definitely related to your company's products, so research will be relatively simpler.
Keyword gap analysis with competitors
This is still essentially keyword research. You need to analyze whether the difficulty of optimizing your chosen keyword is high. Using the previous example, the term 'foreign trade self-built website' is much more difficult to rank for than 'foreign trade SOHO self-built website'. New sites usually find it hard to achieve good rankings. After selecting a keyword based on your product, search it on Google to see the ranking results and check if major sites have already occupied favorable positions. What are the popular keywords of your main competitors (this can be viewed using third-party tools), and how difficult is it for you to optimize those keywords.
Page keyword optimization
When writing an article, first think about the purpose of the article and what terms you hope people will use to search for it. This article doesn't have a fixed keyword; if forced to say, it would be 'Google SEO' and 'SEO'. 'Basic SEO optimization' probably isn't searched by many. But why write it? First, the article isn't written solely for keywords. This article is meaningful for friends who don't know SEO, serving as an experience sharing. Second, although this article may not rank well, its category is under
Google SEOdirectory. So, after writing the article, is it possible to indirectly increase the ranking weight of the page https://blog.naibabiji.com/google-seo? Naiba himself believes it should, though it might not be immediately apparent. Seeing this, you can go to Google and search for
Google SEO Tutorial, to see where Naiba's website ranks. (At the time of publication, it was the last on the third page.)

Title Tags
This is easy to understand. Your website title and article title must contain the search keywords. For example, you definitely won't find this article by searching 'foreign trade self-built website', but you might find it by searching 'Google SEO basics'.
Description
If you have installed
Rank Math, then this description is the one shown in the image below.

The description is an important element in SEO. Google's recommendation is that if you don't know how to write one, don't write it, and let Google automatically determine and crawl it. For SEO optimization of titles and descriptions, you can refer to the previous article:
Writing a correct website title and descriptionImage optimization
Image optimization has been covered in a previous article, but it mainly discussed
alt tags. In fact, there are other things you can do for image optimization. For example, the size of an image affects website speed, which is one of the factors influencing SEO ranking. There's a balance between image resolution and file size. Small images are not clear, while large images have big file sizes. However, if you consider the traffic brought by Google Images, then large images have an advantage. So, we also need to consider how to handle large images without affecting website speed. At this point, you can consider using a CDN, object storage, or other acceleration methods.

Although the term 'build your own website' is not often searched for images, the images that appear on a corporate website are definitely related to your products, thus containing potential customers. Therefore, image optimization is also a part of SEO.
Internal Links
Internal linking, simply put, refers to the links between posts and posts, posts and pages, and pages and pages. This has been covered before, so I won't repeat it here. See:
How should website internal links be done correctly? Are they related articles?The role of internal links is, on one hand, to facilitate search engine spider crawling, and on the other hand, to enhance user experience. Linking to related articles also helps increase website session time and reduce bounce rate.
Content page optimization
For corporate websites, there are usually the following pages:
- Homepage
- Product/Service Page
- About Page
- Contact Page
What we need to check and optimize here are:
- Whether the code follows the correct semantic structure;
- Whether there is too much junk code;
- Whether there is content that needs to be added.
External links
Naiba has rarely done external linking for over a decade, so I can't offer much experience, but if you do it, it will definitely have a better SEO effect than not doing it. Simply put, external linking is leaving your website's URL on other websites. If you can leave your URL on a well-known website in your industry, then one link can have the effect of several links from smaller websites. Therefore, when building backlinks, focus on quality, not just quantity. Too many spammy backlinks can negatively impact SEO. If your competitor tries to harm you with spammy backlinks, you can handle it through Google Search Console.
