What is external traffic driving?
Literally, it means attracting traffic from places outside your own website. This 'site' can be your Amazon store, your own independent website, or your accounts on other platforms.
Some external traffic driving methods I understand
Naiba has over 10 years of experience in website building. Although he has not practiced every traffic-driving method, he has heard of most of them. Below, he shares
some of his understanding of external traffic driving.Currently common off-site traffic generation methods:
1. Google SEO TrafficGoogle SEO traffic should be the preferred off-site traffic generation method suitable for most websites, but it requires the most time and effort to operate. (In reality, many business owners choose to directly spend money on advertising for traffic generation. However, advertising ultimately increases costs. It is recommended to use other traffic generation methods alongside advertising.) Many people may not understand what
Google SEOis. Simply put, when you search for something related to your product on Google, you can see your website's content in the search results. If your website's ranking can reach the top three, then the SEO effect can be considered good.
2. Video Website Traffic (e.g., YouTube) 
YouTube, TikTok, and others can also be used for traffic generation. In the image above, the Google search results for
build my own websiteshow that Naibabiji's ranking is above video results. However, video traffic generation may not be suitable for all business websites. You need to consider whether there is a demand for video traffic generation based on your website's products and services. For example, if hardly anyone searches for your product on video websites, then creating videos for traffic generation would undoubtedly be a waste of effort (although it's possible that one day searches might suddenly appear, bringing you traffic).
3. Other Platform Website Traffic 
Similarly, in the search results for the term 'build my own website,' the first result is from Zhihu, the second is a video, and the third is an article from Naibabiji. This shows that Zhihu actually has higher authority than videos and other websites. Clicking into Zhihu's answer result, as shown in the image below:

You can see that the top-ranked answer quietly left a link to their own website and advertised it. Don„t underestimate platforms like Zhihu; they inherently have a large amount of traffic and also receive traffic from search engines. If you can get a popular answer and that question happens to be what users are looking for, you can gain a lot of traffic. Foreign trade websites can generate traffic on foreign platforms such as Quora, LinkedIn, and some industry forums. As long as you can leave your company“s information or contact details, it counts as off-site traffic generation. For example, some websites have strict controls and don„t allow links, but you can leave a comment saying, “I saw a great tutorial on how to build my own website on Naibabiji, you should check it out.„ People interested in building their own website will naturally search for Naibabiji, indirectly generating traffic for your website.
4. Social Media TrafficSocial media platforms such as Twitter, Facebook, Pinterest, and Instagram can all be used for traffic generation. I can't provide specific advice on how to operate them because I rarely do this type of traffic generation. A person's energy is limited, and Naiba is too lazy to handle these. However,
if your product is suitable for these platformsfor traffic generation, putting in the effort can yield very good traffic.
5. Other Traffic Generation MethodsI've seen some other traffic generation methods introduced online, such as mass emailing, finding influencers for product promotion, and posting on classified information platforms. Essentially, these are all about leveraging other platforms for traffic generation. Therefore,
Naiba personally believes that off-site traffic generation methods can be summarized into two types: using search engine SEO for traffic or leveraging other platforms for promotional traffic.If you have the energy, you can do both traffic generation methods simultaneously. Persistence will eventually yield results.
How to use Google SEO to drive traffic
Currently, Naibabiji's main traffic generation method relies on SEO, primarily targeting Google. Baidu SEO and Google SEO are two different operational approaches, with Google SEO being relatively easier.

For example, the article recommending 2020 VPS in the image above was not initially intended by Naiba for ranking purposes, but Google still gave it some ranking, resulting in some user visits per month. The top-ranked sites are all professional websites that earn referral commissions by recommending hosting. They basically rely on SEO for traffic (the top-ranked one is Zhihu, which leverages a third-party platform but also uses SEO optimization techniques).

Before doing Google SEO, first understand Google's web crawling process and search algorithmNext, you need to know
the most basic Google SEO optimization tasks, and then execute and produce content. Of course, when producing SEO-friendly content, there are differences between B2B and B2C website content; otherwise, the traffic gained may not be targeted and thus less meaningful. For example, for selling LED lights, a B2B website could write „Top 10 LED Industry Enterprises in China“ or „Where in China Produces the Best Quality LED Lights,“ then insert the factory information and contact details in the article. For a B2C website, you could write „Recommended LED Lights Worth Having“ or „LED Light Recommendations Suitable for European and American Styles,“ then insert product purchase links to your Amazon or independent website in the article to achieve conversions.

Although there are many methods for off-site traffic generation, they can generally be divided into two major categories: SEO optimization and traffic from other platforms. Using SEO to drive traffic requires the most effort but yields the most lasting results; however, many beginners may feel at a loss on where to start. Leveraging other platforms, as long as you are active enough on those platforms, follow the platform rules, and share some valuable content, you can gain a certain amount of traffic, which may be relatively simpler. Using other platforms for off-site traffic generation, if you follow some basic SEO rules and rely on the platform's own authority, it's easy to rank for some keywords, and the results can be quite good. For a website to achieve conversions, traffic generation is only the first step; after attracting traffic, conversion is involved. To truly succeed with a website, you need to continuously analyze and optimize the website content, which is why many people cannot persist. Once successful, you can experience the benefits brought by the website.
