The domain name registry recently adjusted the wholesale prices of domain names again, leading to price increases for domain registrars including NameSilo. When Naiba first wroteNameSilo Domain Registration Tutorial, the price for a .com domain seemed to be around $10. In 2023, or some time ago, domain prices increased once, making registration around $13. On September 1, 2024, prices increased again, and now registering a .com domain costs $17. Therefore, if you purchase or renew domains at the original price, NameSilo's pricing offers no advantage.
To cope with the domain price increase, we have two approaches:
1. Purchase and renew domains at cheaper domain registrars (or transfer your registered domains to other cheaper registrars).
2. Join the NameSilo Discount Program.
Naiba transferred some of his domains to Cloudflare, where the current price for a .com domain is $10.44. For websites that are already live, transferring domains might risk service interruptions due to numerous DNS records and associated services. Therefore, some domains are still renewed with NameSilo. Joining their discount program becomes a more cost-effective option.

From NameSilo's official price list, you can see that after joining the discount program, registering a .com domain costs only $11, which is still an acceptable price.
The conditions for joining the NameSilo Discount Program are simple: you need to top up your NameSilo account with a minimum of $50, and then make payments using your account balance. You can join or leave the program at any time.
