Google Analytics does not show keywords_not set provided solution

During website operationanalyzing statistical records is very important. When Naiba checks the search sources in Google Analytics, selecting Acquisition - Overview - Organic Search, I see that keywords not set and not provided dominate the statistical results, but specific information is unknown.

What does not set mean?

What does not set mean? Literally, it means 'not set,' so as a website owner, seeing that the largest traffic source keyword is not set can be confusing. not provided means 'not provided.' The source of not set keywords is usually Baidu, while not provided keywords typically come from Google. As shown in the image below:关键字not setClicking on not set to enter the keyword details page only shows one record, and the specific keyword is not visible.关键字not set

Reasons for the appearance of not set and not provided

Why do not set and not provided appear? The main reason is that most search engines and websites have now adopted HTTPS. Compared to HTTP, HTTPS provides better privacy protection. Baidu officially removed the display of keywords in the referer on June 25, 2015. Reference information is as follows:
Date: June 28, 2015 Author: Baidu Webmaster Platform Dear website administrators: Baidu has fully implemented HTTPS across its entire site, taking the lead among BAT companies to complete full-site encryption to promote a secure network environment. To further protect user privacy and prevent third-party eavesdropping and tampering, Baidu officially removed the display of keywords in the referer on June 25, better protecting site traffic keyword data and making site data more private. Website owners can still use the traffic and keyword tools provided by the Baidu Webmaster Platform or related features of Baidu Statistics to obtain website traffic keywords.Source
Google is similar; after switching to HTTPS, it can no longer directly analyze keyword information from URLs as before. Therefore, such search sources from Google become not provided, while Baidu's become not set.

Workaround One

Since keyword statistics are no longer available, what methods can be used as workarounds to let website owners know which pages visitors are accessing and roughly what search terms led them to our site? In Google Analytics results, click on the secondary dimension under keywords and search for the title, as shown in the image below:关键字not setThen, you can see the titles of the accessed articles. From the titles, you should be able to infer which pages users visited through searches. Then, optimize the landing pages to improve the site's PV and conversion rates.关键字not set

Workaround Two

Most domestic websites still rely on Baidu for search traffic, so you might consider using Baidu Statistics. However, Naiba initially used Baidu Statistics for a while, and many statistical keywords were meaningless English letters. The statistical results were similar to those from the statistics plugin installed on WordPress, so it wasn't very meaningful, which is why I switched to Google Analytics. Additionally, although Baidu has given Baidu Statistics a backdoor to see Baidu keyword information, Google search sources still do not show keywords, and Google hasn't given its own statistics a backdoor either. However, there is another place to check Baidu keyword source information, which is the Baidu Webmaster'sTraffic and Keyword ToolsGoogle流量和关键字统计
